-stock (chicken, beef or vegetable) in liquid form or bouillon
-canned tomatoes or homemade or jarred tomato sauce
-canned chickpeas, white kidney beans or lentils
-garlic – fresh, minced in oil or dried
-greens: spinach, kale or collard greens (fresh or frozen)
